Hey! I’m Kelly, and I’m a freelance nature, science, and outdoor living writer on a mission to get you outside and loving the great outdoors just as much as I do! I believe that a love for the outdoors equals a love for our planet. A person who spends time outside will grow passionate about protecting our environment and preserving the green space around her.
Whether your live in a rural area, an urban area (like me!), or somewhere in between, there are endless possibilities for fun and enjoyment once you step outside your front door. I want to be the reason just one person gets up off her couch and decides to get some fresh air and start to truly appreciate the natural world around her.
A Bit About Me
I am so happy to see you taking steps to live your life outside! It doesn’t matter where you live – there is plenty to do. I live in Buffalo, NY, home to short summers and lake effect snow, and winter is my FAVORITE season. Give me all the snow.
When I’m not praying for more snow, I’m trying to stay sane while freelance writing, working my corporate day job, and going back to school full time to study Environmental Science. I actually earned my first degree in French Language and Literature back in 2011, and made the decision to go back to school for *gasp* SCIENCE very recently.
Why Go Back to School at 30?
After I graduated from Buffalo State with my French degree, I thought I was NEVER going to go back to school. I had a 9-5 that paid my bills. I had more freedom now that homework and projects were a thing of the past. But over the last few years, my love for the environment and my passion for learning about environmental issues became stronger than ever. I also started to feel less and less like myself working for a bank.
I actually get to work from home for this bank, and basically make my own hours. So what’s wrong with that?! It seemed like a dream when I first got it, but it just isn’t enough. I’m not doing anything important. I’m not helping anyone or our planet.
So I decided to go back to school after my wedding and started at Erie Community College in January of 2019. I’m not sure what I want to do with the degree, but I’m excited to find out!
